Surrender & Serenity

I’ve been thinking about why I like flowing water so much and why it’s so important and what it means to me. A stream, a brook, a creek, a river, any one of those I would love to live by. Flowing water represents movement, growth, change, cleansing, life, serenity and surrender. Those last two are new to me. Surrender and serenity. I’ve never connected these two things to my attraction, love, and desire to live by flowing water. Makes a lot of sense, fits well and helps me see a lot more clearly like my progressive lens prescription glasses.

I read somewhere the other day that, “you must surrender your mind to your heart,” and that “surrender is like a river.” The river keeps flowing until it reaches the ocean where it totally surrenders. It no longer exists. It becomes one with. I find this to be a very interesting and meaningful way of looking at life and, although I never quite understood it before in that context, its part of my attraction and my desire to live by moving water. When I’m there, I literally feel myself transform. I come alive. I feel connected. I feel full of energy and vibrant inside. It’s like plugging me into an electrical outlet that boosts my power that makes my light shine twice as bright.

I picked a card out of the Power Animal Deck this morning and I got the Dove which is about Serenity. It talks about slowing down, the need to pause and to breathe. Serenity goes well with surrender. Once I am able to surrender I find serenity and once I find serenity, what to do or what not to do becomes more evident to me. Centering myself within this space is the part I need to do more often.

A cabin by a creek for sale. Anyone?

Where is this photo taken, Annette? It looks like a wonderful, peaceful place.

Yes!! I want to be there, in that cabin, by that creek, surrendering and serene. Makes me feel calm just to look at this picture!

I like your thoughts here. What were you reading that brought you this contemplation? I might like to read it, too.

Hi Kate and Paula, thanks for dropping by. The picture is one I pulled from the internet and I chose it because it is almost identical to the cabin on the coast where I went to do a private retreat with a client. It was heavenly.

What I was reading was a passage out of a book that Andree is reading called: The Truth Is by Sri Poonja. It's along the lines of Science of Mind.
