The Home Stretch

The subject to financing condition has been removed. The subject to a house inspection condition has been removed. The subject to being approved by the park owner condition has been removed. The electrical inspection condition has been removed. The subject to purchasing insurance condition has been removed. By 10 p.m. last night all of these conditions were met and removed as per our contract date. Two hours ahead of our midnight deadline.

The Reader’s Digest condensed version of this jumbo size continuing saga novel is – I think we bought ourselves a house. All of the above pretty much firms up this deal. And Mr. Chris Holm, the most handsome, go getter and kind realtor in the whole Okanagan is the one who was persistent enough to follow us through with all our ups and downs and “land us a home”. I would recommend his charming personality and tenacious style to anybody who is in the market to buy or sell.

Land & Home. Hmmm.....those are two words that feel pretty good right about now. Our on the road, unstable lifestyle is coming to an end, if not permanently, at least for the next little while. We are scheduled to take procession on the 28th. Another eight days and we can get in there.

Once in we will be doing some renovations the biggest of which will be to put on a new roof, improve the bathroom and put down some laminate floor in the two bedrooms. Then we’re going to move ourselves in there and call it HOME! Even Pumpkin has also been accepted and approved as part of our family. The madness is over!

All we have left to do is the renos, the cleaning, the move, the sorting and placing and organizing. Then I have to start promoting myself and my business, start attracting the clients I want and the places I need to do my workshops. All very important details towards the part about earning a living and maintaining this roof over our head and a continual supply of food in out tummy. Did I say the madness was over?

Oh yes. What did we buy? It’s an older mobile, quite old in fact. However it had an addition built on it and a major face lift in 1995. There are lots of windows in the porch/sun room which is where we intend to set up our office. The walls inside were re-finished with gyproc which makes it feel more like a house then a mobile. There are patio doors off the master bedroom which lead out to what once used to be a beautiful flower garden with plants and flowers galore. We even discovered a water fountain buried in the foliage.

The flower beds have been abandoned but we’re hoping to transform it into the work of love it once was. Once we spruce it all up, I have no doubt it will become our little sanctuary. We could use help from a master gardener. Phillis, are you planning another trip up here anytime soon?

Now on an entirely different note. Tomorrow is my graduation. Imagine that. Here I am 55 years old (which I had to be in order to qualify to live in this mobile home park) and I’m all excited about going to my graduation. Somehow those two things just don’t seem to be very compatible. Ceremonies start at 6 p.m. followed by a big fancy supper and evening starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Sunset Ridge Golf course in Kelowna. I’m really looking forward to seeing all my classmates again. And thank God I will have an answer to the question. “Have you found a home yet?”
Now off I go to start my day as I head down the home stretch.

Congratulations on both the new home and the graduation!!! So now Lake Country will be your new home. It's pretty there. Have fun at your graduation and I'm sure that You, Andree and Pumpkin will be happy to have your own space again. Next time I'm in the Okanagan I will come and visit. Last trip was such a whirlwind and I was sorry to have missed you. I look forward to hearing more once you have moved in.

love always,

Congratulations on all counts! Graduation time at last with your classmates forever remembered. Very excited & proud of you as always.
Your new home sounds wonderful. I am sure, once you put your heads together, it will be exactly suited to your needs.
That garden area sounds interesting. I know Andree will be out there planning and planting in no time.
God bless dear hearts. The best of everything as you travel on once more.
Love,
Barbara

WOW! Can I stand in line wishing you "Congratulations!" on both counts??!!! I knew you two could do it. It sounds like you found the right place for where you are right now in your journey(s). Your courage and perseverance has paid off. I'm happy you got a place before the winter sets in. It sounds like you have the makings of a great milieu for the ministry you will be/be doing.

So where are you located in the Okanogan?? You just never know. Do take care of yourselves. With love and a hug, Linda
