The cat is chasing bits of paper around the house. She uses my jade plants as trees to hide behind then comes skidding around the corner and pounces on the paper ball – her pretend version of a prize baby white mouse delicacy. In between her bouts of raising the dust bunnies off the floor she alternates between jumping up on the table in front of the living room window, the kitchen counter to stare out the front window or the bed to look out the back patio door. She’s suffering - the diagnosis – a bad case of cabin fever along with the rest of us.
My daughter called me a “hip mom” yesterday for finally getting on Face Book. Something I’ve been resisting doing. The only reason I’m there is because a friend set me up on it otherwise I wouldn’t have had a clue. I still don’t know what the heck I’m doing when I’m in there. Then, yesterday when I went to pick up Andree from work I had to wait for her to cash out and I didn’t have a book with me. Unusual I know. So I did like the kids do. I whipped out my cell phone and found the place where a person can play games. It didn’t last long. I had no idea what I was doing there either. It’s a slow learning curve.
On the other hand, Jody, daughter number two as mentioned above, would be pretty proud of me if she saw me going for walks all wired up with the IPOD she gave me last winter – another gadget I had trouble figuring out how to use. Now I’m bouncing down the street with this thing plugged in my ears while I listen to some of the 200 plus blues and jazz tunes she took the time to record for me last year. I wouldn’t think of using it when walking out on nature trails but when I’m walking in the middle of the city with cars whizzing by, I do like the kids, I crank up the tunes and enter my own little world and let the thoughts float by.

Now, if only I looked like that!

Hip Mom!! Gotta love it. My kids have been asking me to get on facebook too but I have been resisiting. The less time I spend at this computer, the more time I have for the important things I want to do. It is an object that keeps me connected and I love that part of it, but I don't want to be tied to it. Tell pumpkin it won't be much longer now. Spring must come sooner or later, doesn't it??
love always,
Phillis xoxoxoxo
I hear you about Face Book. What convinced me was this friend telling me how it could be a great networking tool for me. My main interest being getting the word out about the power of writing to as many people as I can. The last thing I need is more time at the computer. It already consumes my life more than I would like it to.
Spring - it's coming - just not fast enough!
You've figured out the Ipod too now?! Look at you go!
I'm with you, Annette!! I'm on Facebook because someone invited me, too. I never go there because I still have no idea why I would want to. I got an iPod for my birthday from a friend and loaded all the songs that Sandra had insisted that I wanted to have on my computer but I hardly ever listen to it, even when I walk. I just forget about it, you know? What happened to pen pals and record players???
