Wheels

Betsy is gone. She left yesterday. I thanked her and wished her well on her new journey and waved good bye to her as she putted her way down the street for the very last time. She seemed quite happy with her new owners who promised to give her the attention she needs. In fact I swear I saw her smile when the young couple talked about her new home in the back country and of how they would grind and patch the rust spots, fix the window that gets stuck every time it’s rolled down, tighten and replace the leaky hoses, give her some new shoes and a new muffler so she could purr like a kitten, hold her head up high and keep on chugging along for many more miles.

In Betsy’s place now sits a 1998, tip top shape, light purple Toyota Camry – a baby with only 150,000 kms under her belt and raring to go. The difficult part will be to NOT let her twist my rubber arm and convince my gypsy soul to take her on a road trip through the mountains so we can get used to each other. She’s not new to me though. We’ve partnered together before. She’s my sister’s car and I got to take her out a few times before when Betsy wasn’t up to the more heavy duty trips. She sure does look pretty sitting in the driveway this morning. I wonder what she’ll be called.

Annette; I'm so glad Betsy has a new home...rather than being tossed in the 'bone yard'. Sounds like her new owners will take good care of her.
WOW!!! A purple car!!! I love it!!
Happy travelling...pat

Congratulations on having more reliable wheels! WOW! a Toyota with "only" 150,000 kms! That's translated into under 100,000 miles. With a Toyota that's just well broken in. I too am glad that Betsy will have a good retirement. Yep, a while back, last May. I got rid of my little red Toyota Corolla. Only had 236,000 miles on her. She too was given to a the man from whom,I got my '98 Toyota Sienna Minivan that "only" had 87,000 miles. Hey, I'll meet you somewhere on those backroads and we can have a visit. Take care. Hugs, Linda
