The Sun is Coming Through

There’s a great big bright ball hanging around in the sky lately and let me tell you it’s a welcomed sight. My power source has returned. The cloud ceiling that hangs over our heads for most of the winter seems to have lifted. The sun is shinning and I am filled with life. Having said that, I think about friends who are scattered here and there in the world and how their outlook is somewhat different at this time of the year. Some of them live where temperatures have already soared to the high 80’s and up to 90 and who are expressing fear of what the arrival of real summer will mean.

And then there are family and friends in Alberta and Saskatchewan who see a lot of sun but who are just beginning to experience a melt down of the huge amounts of snow. Makes me realize how each one of us is different because each one of us is unique in who we are and how we perceive and live things differently. We are also very much affected by our surroundings and where we live. We see things through different colored glasses and what people see and how many different colored lenses there are is endless. That is what makes working with people so interesting, fascinating and enticing.

Today my granddaughter Sadie is four years old, and my friend Linda in Montana who has also taken up studying, is …… another year. Special birthday wishes go out to both of them. I wish I could be there. It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful it is to see the years add on and the changes happen when one is growing up and how it becomes a little less wonderful to see the years add on and the changes happen as one gets older. Yet, I need to qualify that somewhat because to witness and be part of changes of our own inner landscape is quite rewarding and life giving, it’s the other more physical changes that are sometimes not so welcomed and a little harder to adapt to.

As for me, yesterday was another busy day as I worked on doing some marketing brochures for the writing workshop I want to start promoting as part of my practice. I was focused on getting at least a draft copy done so I could run it by someone from the CPCA (Canadian Professional Counselor Association). I wanted to see what she thought of it as I will have a table set up at the big conference which is coming up in May to advertise my new practice and the different workshops I do. That’s the plan. She was encouraging about my endeavors and I’m getting quite pumped up about the possibilities coming my way. It’s all pretty scary, exciting and brand new, like the sun poking its way through.
