It was Mom’s 85th birthday yesterday so we took her out for dinner then presented her with a huge birthday cake even if we weren’t a huge crowd. My brother drove down from Alberta the day before, then there was the three of us girls along with our respective partners plus a couple of grandchildren.
We got her all dolled up, dressed her in her fancy duds, pinned a corsage on her, ordered a wheelchair taxi and off we went to the Best Western dinning room where we had booked a table by the creek. That’s what I said – by the creek! The hotel is built over a creek which flows year round. It’s quite nice and it makes for a natural setting while still being indoors.

I snapped a few pictures while we were there. I tell you, she may be a prisoner to her own body and her mind right now but she certainly doesn’t look like no 85 year old to me. Hell, she’s 30 years older than I am and in many ways she looks younger than I do. I certainly have more wrinkles and wear and tear on my face then her.
It was a lot for her but she seemed to enjoy herself. Even chuckled at a few of our comments and when we sang Happy Birthday she joined in and said, “Happy Birthday to me”. We weren’t gone more than a couple of hours but for her that was a lot and by the time we got back she couldn’t wait to be put to bed so she could have a nap. Poor Mom, her mind and body are so tired. I often wonder, what really goes on for her inside?

Happy Birthday to your Mom Annette. I'm afraid I don't know her first name to wish her a happy birthday. 85 years ! You see a lot of things in 85 years. What a nice gift for your mother. Dinner and cake and did you dance with her? I know you both love that.
love awlays,
Phillis
I'm glad you and your family all had a good time. I've many times over the years been to that restaurant by the creek, and it is truly beautiful. I'm sure it meant a lot to your mom.
Bonne Fete Memere! You still look the same as when we used to come over for Easter egg hunts and climb the cherry tree. I hope you enjoyed your day!
Love,
Jody

A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your mOm Annette. How beautiful she looked on her special day.
My goodness, 85! Wow, just think how much life she has lived. Incrediable things she has done along with the changes she has experienced along the way.
One very special lady no doubt. I am so happy she was able to join in her birthday song. I can only imagine how special that was for everyone.
Blessings to all,
Barbara
