A Sechelt Retreat

What a place! I wake up to the sound of the creek and out my window, the beauty of the big pond across the road, otherwise known as the ocean. I am surrounded by a lush dense forest filled with huge Cedar trees. I feel like I am cuddled in the safety of their arms. It is so beautiful, inspiring, life-giving.

I don't know that it could get any better. I doubt it. I am so grateful to be here and I am filling my heart and soul with everything that surrounds me because this is what I am going to attract more of in my life. I embrace it. I welcome it.

There are no street noises, no horns blowing, sirens screaming or brakes screetching. What there is sea gulls crying out, the sound of water rushing down the falls and running down the creek as it makes it's way into the ocean.

There are no exhuast fumes, paint smells or city smog. I breathe and I get fresh mountain air mixed in with the saltiness of the ocean and the smell of wet grass and cedar. I taste it, drink it, breathe it deep into my lungs so I can take it all home with me when I leave. If I can ever pull myself away.

I am working hard but I am doing working at what I love doing so that almost makes it feel like play.

Crossing over from Vancouver to the Sunshine Coast - a 45 minute ferry ride.

A misty, cloudy, typical coastal weather winter day.

I arrive at the cottage tucked into the forest and just cross the street from the ocean.

A bench in the forest by the waterfall which is almost hidden by the vegetation.

A bench by the creek 10 feet to the right of the cottage.

The sign for Creekside Cottage and a huge tree with a bear carved into it's belly.

A close up of him. And on the other side of the tree.....

....is the carving of this face.

Some islands in the ocean. The middle one has a house on it. Look how clear the water is!

Some divers practising and investigating the ocean floor. And this dog who had me tossing his toy in the water so he could swim and fetch it. This went on for a long time and when I said enough, I quit.........

Look at the sad look on his face.

Hold this slice of life forever close. Keep it for all the good, impossible and rare times that are yet to happen in life.
I am so very proud to have watched you spread your wings to fly.......
