Sunday Gifts

Sunday is often our picnic day. We like to pack a lunch and hit the road in discovery of a new place or revisit a place we have been which we liked. This Sunday we hooked up with a friend and visited a place we loved because of what it offers.

The first gift, beautiful, a creek and how full of life it was! It was bursting at the seams with the spring run-off. I was carried away, mesmerized by the movement change, cleansing, life - all of it rushing between its banks.

The second gift. Trees. Skinny trees and fat trees, young trees and old trees. Some just barely poking out of the ground, others reaching high towards the afternoon sky. Poplar trees, birch trees, ponderosa pine trees, and others I could not identify. And scattered everywhere through the underbrush, adding to the strength and magnificence of the forest, there were ferns and other beautiful plants of the BC forests for which I have no names, only an image of their beauty.

The third gift. Roaring down the mountain side and spreading a fine mist all around everywhere – a waterfall - a demonstration of the magnitude and power of water and one of the few places where I don’t mind the noise.

The fourth gift. Being present to the moment, being in a state of gratitude and sharing this with a friend and with someone I love. Living and appreciating all of this in real time and in reflection time as I sat by the creek and wrote in my journal.

This looks like a fine way to spend a Sunday! I intend to bring your phone number with me, and maybe my dad and his girlfriend will take the kids for the day so I can get out for a visit.

A "Sunday Gift" indeed! One could not ask for more. Especially that rushing waterfall which I remember from before so well.
It was not only music for my ears but unbelieveable peace for my heart.
The mist on my face falling from high above us. Tasting the winter runoff you passed around. The wonder of it all can only be felt, lingering forever.
Thank you so much for sharing your Sunday Gift with us.......

Thanks for sharing your day, Annette. Ever since I moved to the city, I miss days like you had and I enjoyed living vicariously through your pictures and your words.
