Taking Time
Ever since I have more “to do” stuff hanging from the end of my nose I have become aware of how it is even more important to make time to nurture my spiritual side. When I make a conscious choice to slow down and get connected, instead of life becoming a blur, I get a whole new perspective on what living is about.
I used to think it was a selfish act to take time for me; to journal, meditate, go for a peaceful walk or sit and read some meaningful words. Now, I know different. I know selfish is a positive word when it’s about nurturing my soul. I know the importance of sitting by a creek and letting my thoughts flow as I connect to the universe around me.
It’s easy to fill every spare moment of the day with 100 “to do” things but at some point we have to realize there is more to life then paying bills, climbing success ladders, having a manicured yard or looking after those we love. If we don’t look after ourselves and our spiritual needs the bank runs dry.
We have to take time to do things which help us connect and feel whole. We have to replenish the well. That’s what makes the difference between having to get up in the morning to face the day, and wanting to get up in the morning looking forward to the day.
Try it. Take at least 15 minutes to half an hour each day to nurture yourself spiritually and feed your soul. Make it part of your scheduling just like going to work, working out at the gym, attending meetings or looking after other people’s needs. It will bring you peace of mind, tranquility and a connection to self. It will ground you, fill you with energy and allow your life to be on track. I know I need to.
Explore what happens when you STOP and take time to nourish your spirit. Just a thought. . . . .
