Moving On

We’re home! It’s one hell of a mess but, we’ve landed and this little sugar shack is ours and its home.

I was going to take some pictures of the hurricane look we’re in, but I couldn’t find the camera. I imagine I’ll find it sometimes down the line as we pick our way through the many boxes piled everywhere.

Apart from the tons of books and the boxes and boxes of journals and paper, I’m wondering if whatever else is stored in those boxes can be tossed or given away. We seemed to have gotten along fine without it for the past five months and by the looks of things we need to downsize some more to fit everything in here.

Going from the big house we were in to this little place calls for some fine tuning and adjustment. Stuff I can part with, but books stay. Once we unpack all the books I don’t know if there will be any room left for furniture. We may not only be reading books, we may be sitting on books and eating on books as well as we have no furniture to speak of.

There is no kitchen table, no chairs, no couch, nothing to sit on except for one computer chair. But we do have a bed. Our bed! The first thing I did last night while Andree was gone to her Simply Accounting course was to clean out the bedroom and set up the bed and clean out our new soaker tub so we could have a bath.

Today, we go get Pumpkin and move her in. Hopefully she will adjust well to her new digs and the neighbourhood cats. The one next door is twice her size. It’s humongous! Pumpkin better get on his good side, that’s all I can say.

It’s funny how this move seems to have been more physically demanding than ever. We had lots of help, the move went extremely well and we did less hefting than usual and yet we are more tired than ever. Maybe it’s because our bodies were already in a spitting, fighting, screaming, protesting mode from the two solid weeks of heavy duty cleaning and physical work prior to the actual move that it felt more physically demanding than ever.

Do you suppose it means we are getting older or do you suppose it means we should consider not changing places for a while? Naw! Life is about changes. In fact the only thing a person can rely on as being for sure is change. What we have to do is learn how to flow with the changes. Maybe the trick is not to expect to do it all in one day or to pack a bookstore around with you through the moves

Just like their content, books are VERY versatile and make GREAT seats and tables. So, I'm with you ... couches and tables and chairs are expendable. Books aren't! SO glad to hear that you're in and feeling at home already. Looking forward to seeing pictures as soon as you find the camera. Candles still burn just because I love you guys.

A new home for all your books & journals is first priority. The rest will follow, including Pumpkin adjusting.
There will be ups & downs as there have always been, but that is called "life & living."
Get on your horses & ride, side by side as you both have always done. We are forever being tested. Sometimes we pass, others we fail only to try again.
Blessings in your new home with your new lives beginning once more.
