Between The Covers
It’s here! One of the books I ordered on February 19th to use with my final project has finally arrived. What a time to get here, when I’m right smack in the middle of my exam. “Writing Cures” sits on the corner of my desk where I eyeball it like a cat wanting to pounce on its first mouse. I can’t wait to dive into the words between its purplish, bluish, covers and feed my hunger to discover the secrets it may hold which will help me build or deliver my next workshop.
The exam. I’m working at it. Plugging through the darn thing. What a thing to put students through after a year of intense studies. I feel like a pack rat desperately swimming through a year’s worth of text books, notes and papers in search of tiny morsels of information to answer 80 questions, most of which are only worth one point each. My desk, a six foot table, looks like a battle field that has been hit by a bunch of hand grenades. It’s quite the sight.
It’s time consuming and sometimes a little disheartening to realize I’ve only accumulated one point to tack on to my final mark when sometimes it can take me up to an hour or so to find and formulate my answer. I keep thinking of the old cliché, “Rome wasn’t built in a day!” And that seems to keep me going for a little while longer. At least up until I start thinking, wait a minute; I never wanted to build Rome in the first place. Then I know it’s time to pull away and take a break.
I pushed it a little yesterday. I wanted to get more done because I won’t be able to work on my exam today. I am leaving shortly to make my way to Kelowna to meet my morning appointment with my client and I am scheduled to spend the rest of the day there.
I will cleaning the school after classes are over and it looks like I will be going out for supper with former classmates before going to the home and bathing my Mom. A busy day ahead, so I best get going. But first, I have to make sure I put my new book right next to my journal in my packsack. Who knows when I’ll have a spare minute or two to peek between its covers.

Dear Annette, I cannot help but check your blog daily to see what you wrote. It always puts a smile on my face...two reasons...1. I like to know what you are up to and 2. your sense of humor...you always say things just right....makes me chuckle. Thanks.
Laura
