It might be the weekend and I might be out of school but it sure as hell doesn’t feel like I’m on holidays yet. I spent the whole day yesterday sitting at the computer or with my nose in my books trying to come up with what I’m going to write for my paper for my course. I would really like to get it out of the way before I venture out to Alberta. Chances are it’s not too likely to happen once I’m out of here.
I still have so much to do before leaving. There’s boxes we’re bringing that we have to get ready, there’s a couple of meetings with friends, I have to make one more trip into Kelowna to go check on a house I’m looking after while the people are in Mexico, and a million other little things that need doing as well as go see my Mom before we leave.
I bought her a puppy. Not a real one but one of those stuffed ones she can cuddle. I almost went for a Teddy Bear but I thought it would be pushing it for her. She’s never been open to having nurturing things around her in her life, yet I feel it’s so important for her to have something she can hang on to and snuggle up against when she goes to bed at night. I hope she will like it.
Tomorrow is my middle daughter’s 30th birthday. Phew! I just about fell out of my chair just now when I realized this is her 30th. Where in the world did those years go? I want to scream – STOP! Quit making the years go by so fast. Wasn’t it just a few years back that I cradled her in my arms or made braids in her hair for school or watched her go out on her first date? Tomorrow, she will be swimming with the dolphins in Jamaica for her birthday. Here’s a picture of her and her husband Ryan. A wedding at Lake Louise this summer and a honeymoon on the shores of Jamaica for Christmas – not too bad at all I’d say.

Since I’m at the bragging table, I might as well include a picture of my youngest daughter Brenda and her beau James. Brenda is spending Christmas in Calgary this year.

My oldest daughter Karen, her husband Peter and my two grandchildren Cole and Sadie are going to travel up North to spend Christmas on the farm with her Dad. Unfortunately I don’t have a recent picture of them but here's one from this summer.

And Andree and I are going to go up North too. That’s if I ever get this school paper written instead of procrastinating finding pictures and writing letters. Will I be able to hook up with you while I’m up there do you think?
Writefully Yours
Annette

What is it about little pugs that I just LOVE?
Someday ...
Woowee...those are some goooood looking couples! I think buying memere a puppy is a great idea. I'm sure she will have great comfort in snuggling up with it. Very thoughtful.
Kate, I hope you get one of those pugs - someday - maybe it will pop out of a box under a Christmas tree.
They are good looking couples aren't they. Come from good stock.
Happy hoildays to both of you. Take this, much needed time to be you. Relax, enjoy every single moment together. "Disappear" into your own space. Let the be a gift to yoursleves. We will all be thinking of you & holding you close. I love the puppy idea for Mom. As you know I have Rotti & he is a comfort & joy to cuddle with. Hopefully she will connect to her puppy as I have mine. Love you both. Drive safe, enjoy the hoilday & we will be here waiting, as always.
Peace, love, & blessings
Barbara
