Holy, it’s a winter wonderland over here this morning. Early for us to be having so much white stuff. I doubt it’s here to stay though. It can’t be. Good gawd the trees aren’t even finished dropping their leaves. My maple in the back is not quite done and the weeping willow in the front still has lots of leaves, even green ones, although they all look pretty white this morning.
It was no fun driving home on those roads yesterday. The first part wasn’t bad but then I stopped in Vernon to give Mom a bath and by the time I got out of there it wasn’t pretty. Looking out the window of a nice warm house it might have been pretty but not looking out the windshield of the car I had to keep on the road.
It was one of those driving nights where you want to stop because you can’t see anything, but you couldn’t find an entrance to turn into if you tried because the visibility is so bad and you know darn well you can’t stop and be a sitting duck in the middle of the highway, so you keep going and hope for the best. I was glad when I finally made it home. Whenever I find myself in situations like that I surround myself and my vehicle with a white light. It reassures me and allows me to relax behind the wheel.
Mom was not too bad yesterday. She closed her eyes and totally relaxed in the bathtub while I washed her. After I wiped her, put her in her nightgown, cleaned her sticky chair, sat her back down and wrapped her in a warm flannel sheet I took out of the warmer, she said. “Everyone should be as gentle as you when they look after me.” Wow! That’s huge for my Mom to say. It was kind of like wrapping a warm flannel sheet around me.
Speaking of things to warm my heart. I got a post card from my three year old granddaughter yesterday. She drew a picture of herself in the back. And last week I got one of the West Edmonton Mall waterslides from my grandson who’s five and it says: We slept at the big mall and I went on the big slides. Here’s a picture of them. Isn’t that sweet!

Love the pictures Annette. Nothing warms my heart more than art work from my grandkids! My yard looked very pretty this morning too. The pheasants walking through the snow to get to the sunflower seeds and the blue jays trying to find the peanuts under the inch or so of snow. I enjoyed it. Drive safely.
love always,
Phillis
Annette,
I'd like to just acknowledge your new blog home, and extend a welcome to this part of the blog-world. Your new place is lovely and I hope you'll enjoy writing in it!

I don't like this kind of winter driving either. With the winds here, it can be perfectly clear.. then suddenly it's like someone dropped a big white sheet down in front of the windshield. My first inclination is to brake...how dangerous that could be if there's a car behind me!!
Sounds like your mom is adjusting well to her new home...am so glad.
LOVE the pictures..can hardly wait till my 'grands' are old enough to
send me some for my frig.
take care...pat
What a great picture that must have been - the bright colors of a pheasant walking in the white snow.

Thanks Bren. It's a whole new world for me but I am enjoying it so far.

I know what you mean about the roads Pat. I lived in Quebec for 2 years and experienced some of that.
